DIPLOMA PROGRAM
The Diploma program in Diagnostic Medical Sonography prepares graduates for entry-level employment as ultrasound technologists specializing in general sonography. Students receive comprehensive training in Abdominal, Small Parts, Gynecology, Obstetrics, and Vascular ultrasound, equipping them for roles in hospitals, imaging centers, physician offices, and clinics. This specialized program concentrates on the fundamental aspects of the field, providing a focused and targeted educational experience that maximizes preparation for professional practice. Graduates emerge as skilled professionals ready to contribute to the healthcare field as ultrasound technologists.
Program Length: 20-24 months
ASSOCIATE OF SCIENCE DEGREE
Explore a career with UMI's AS in Diagnostic Medical Sonography, spanning 20-24 months. Specialized training in various ultrasound specialties prepares graduates for entry-level roles in hospitals, imaging centers, physician offices, and clinics. With integrated self-paced online General Education courses, the curriculum emphasizes critical and analytical thinking and ethical considerations. AS degree holders emerge as competent professionals ready to contribute to the healthcare field.

BACHELOR OF SCIENCE DEGREE
Explore a rewarding career in diagnostic medical sonography with UMI's BS program. Gain expertise in ultrasound imaging and essential professional skills for a competitive job market. Become eligible to pursue credentialing exams, including RDMS, RVT, and RDCS, showcasing your expertise and enhancing employment prospects in hospitals, clinics, and private practice upon graduation.
Transfer your Diploma or Associate Degree in DMS / Ultrasound Tech towards UMI's BS in DMS program
Program Length: 3 years-full program; about 12-18 months with DMS Diploma / AS degree transfer.
LICENSURE & CREDENTIALING
UMI DMS programs provide program-specific paths to credentialing, ensuring our graduates are well-equipped for success in their chosen careers.
DMS A.S. and B.S. Programs are ARRT-Approved. All UMI DMS programs meet educational and/or ultrasound experience requirements for ARDMS eligibility.

DIPLOMA / AS DEGREE TUITION
UMI offers equal tuition rates for our Diploma and Associate degree programs. The Associate degree incurs slightly higher program fees for processing and academic evaluation, along with additional fees for lower-division general education courses through a UMI-approved third-party online course provider. Students with existing general education credits from accredited institutions can request a transfer credit review to apply them toward UMI's AS program credits.
UMI sets a flat tuition and fee amount for each 10-week term. Students' actual tuition payments are spread out over the terms through the UMI Payment Plan or collected via disbursement from a third-party lender.
BS DEGREE TUITION
The full BS tuition covers enrollment in the entire three-year program, while the BS Completion tuition is an estimate for students transferring their DMS Diploma or Associate degree to UMI's BS-DMS program. Additional fees may apply for lower-division general education courses through a UMI-approved third-party online provider.
